Online 5-week interactive training course
02 - 30 October
Working in Partnership with the Media
Since the coronavirus put paid to our plans to hold an in-person media training day this spring, we have been working hard to bring the content to you in a COVID-friendly way, and it's happening this October.
Join us every Friday morning throughout October (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th) for an online, interactive training course from the comfort of your living room/office/kitchen/wherever.
The course will be led by our Head of Communications & Policy, former journalist Natalie Williams (pictured).
With a wide range of experience on both sides of the reporter's notepad, Natalie is well qualified to understand what journalists are looking for and how we can engage with them effectively.
Who's it for?
Anyone with responsibility for social action or other projects in their church or the community. Or anyone on a church or charity communications team who wants to engage with the local media - or who dreads the media turning up on the doorstep.
Whether you want to know how to get the media interested in what you're doing, or how to respond confidently to media enquiries, this course is for you.
What will it cover?
Developing a media strategy
Building relationships with journalists
Responding well when the press contact you
Writing a press release
Developing a media calendar
Handling bad press and negative enquiries...and more.
The course will help you raise awareness of your work, help you fundraise, help you promote your events and recruit volunteers. Not bad for 6 hours across 5 Friday mornings (the first session will be 2 hours long, the rest will be an hour each).
How much does it cost?
All this costs just £50 per person. Sign up using the link below.
It will be delivered via an online platform and will cater to a wide range of learning styles, with its combination of interactive sessions, videos to watch and exercises to complete alone.
