BEST is a voluntary organisation dedicated to visiting foreign nationals in HM Prison Wandsworth, South London. They focus on people held in detention centres or in prison who were seeking sanctuary. They visit everyone in this category who requests a BEST visit for as long as they want the visits to continue. Where possible they also try to support detainees after their release from prison.

They also provide support with employment, benefits and housing to newly recognised refugees.
Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group's staff and volunteer teams visit and provide support and advocacy to detainees held at Tinsley House and Brook House detention centres and Cedars pre-departure accommodation for families, near Gatwick Airport. The organisation has also produced a number of reports on detention.
GLADAN is a Glasgow-wide network of charities, church and community groups actively concerned for asylum seekers who have been made destitute following the refusal of their asylum application, and other vulnerable migrants with no recourse to public funds. The purpose is to improve, broaden and communicate the help available to those in this situation. Members also raise public awareness and campaign for positive change in government policy. Meetings are held every 4-6 weeks.

Happydays UK supports homeless people in the Sowerby Bridge and Halifax area. HappyDays is a charity that offers hope to the homeless through supported housing in community and social enterprise. This includes one property accommodating refugees and destitute asylum seekers in partnership with the Halifax United Reformed Churches. They also support non-asylum seeking migrants, provide case work support and run several social enterprise programmes.

The Harrogate District of Sanctuary Group was formed in November 2016 following the arrivals of Syrian refugee families. There are now 18 families settled in Harrogate & Knaresborough, originally from Syria, Iraq, Sudan & Afghanistan. We raise awareness locally about the issues faced by refugees and asylum seekers, and aim to create, an environment where refugees and asylum seekers feel, welcome and included in our society.

We help them integrate into the local community and understand the UK's complex systems. We meet each Thursday at 7pm at the church for a social where everyone can relax and have fun.
Home4U provides accommodation and support to people seeking asylum who become destitute when they reach a break in their asylum claim. With no right to work, no accommodation and no recourse to public funds, people have few options. We support individuals to rebuild their lives. Each resident is supported individually by a key worker, and other supporters offer additional support through holistic activity and fun events.
Homeplus NI is a Belfast-based charity working with refugees, asylum seekers, destitute migrant workers and homeless people. We provide a nightly Street Outreach service for rough sleepers and a daily Drop-In Centre in Belfast specifically for asylum seekers, refugees and destitute migrants: the centre provides hot meals, clothing, advice and support. MHDVG was set up in Nottingham in 2011 following the opening of Morton Hall detention centre in Swinderby, Lincolnshire. Volunteers visit and provide support on a weekly basis to people detained at the centre.

Open Hands offers short-term housing to destitute asylum seekers – Sheffield's hidden poor, who are denied the right to find jobs or to live in social housing yet call Sheffield their ‘home’. Since 2007 they have housed around 70 failed and destitute asylum seekers from over 20 different countries. Open Hands also puts on a fortnightly 'Monday Meal' for destitute asylum seekers.The charity was established by a small group of Christians from St.Thomas' church, Philadelphia in 2007.
Open Kitchen MCR is on a mission to feed bellies not bins! As Manchester's first 'waste' food catering service, they intercept perfectly good, nutritious food that would have gone to waste by working with retailers and wholesalers. Income generated goes to support a number of community projects that support vulnerable people.
A weekly community event, Monday 11-3 pm, the focus is to provide food, support, and a place to meet for destitute asylum seekers, refugees, those in need in the wider community. Food will be provided free of charge to those with no source of income and on a voluntary donations basis to anyone else. Any funds raised will go towards future weekly events.

Sanctus St Mark's supports refugees and people who are seeking asylum through weekly drop-ins in Stoke on Trent. Services offered include help with emergency accommodation, food, baby equipment, English lessons, translation, health services and spiritual care. Scottish Detainee Visitors (SDV) befriend and support people being held at Dungavel detention centre near Strathaven, South Lanarkshire. Based in Glasgow, SDV visits detainees on a regular basis and also run a monthly drop-in support service at the centre.

Share's aims are simple - we support families in crisis and people who are homeless in North Wales and Cheshire and we assist refugees fleeing for their lives, wherever they are in the world. In Chester, share volunteers help to raise valuable funds for the charity in the share shop, by selling donations received that are not suitable for refugees or local homeless people. The Share Hub is open daily to our friends who are homeless for hot meals, clothes and toiletries. By working with our partner, Refugees at Home, we recruit local hosts to offer to a room in their home to those in need of accommodation. Together, we can help to provide the support and empowerment needed to create a pathway out of destitution and into a brighter, more hopeful future.
SHARe (Support & Help for Asylum seekers and Refugees) is a group of like minded people aiming to create a support network for asylum seekers and refugees in Knowsley. The weekly Drop-In, supported by MRANG and the British Red Cross, offers friendship, refreshments, English classes and practical support.
At our centre in Mold, SHARE volunteers receive, sort, pack and distribute donations of clothing, footwear and other essential equipment, currently needed by refugee camps in Europe and further afield. We coordinate our efforts with other refugee support organisations in the UK and abroad, to ensure that the right items are provided at the right time and to the right place. We provide support to resettled refugees and asylum seekers within our local communities. Families and individuals choose the items they need from our donated resources.
Share Tawe finds accommodation and support in local homes for asylum seekers in desperate need, who have been evicted from their accommodation, have no money, and are not allowed to work. With a safe place to stay and ongoing support for both hosts and guests from experienced volunteers, many guests are able to prove their right to stay in the UK and build a new life here.
City of Sanctuary is a movement to build a culture of welcome and hospitality for refugees and asylum-seekers. In 2007 Sheffield became the UK’s first ‘City of Sanctuary’. The Sanctuary premises is a safe place where asylum seekers and refugees can come for advice, to relax and make new friends. There is also a multi-agency drop-in and a Refugee and Migrant Forum and Service Providers Group and SPRING, the Sheffield Project for Refugee INtegration and Growth.
SHINE is a Community Organisation working out of St Stephen’s Church in the heart of West Bowling Bradford. The goal is to create a vibrant community-hub in that reaches the socially excluded, brings the community together, and delivers a wide range of life-enhancing services. Services include a Refugee Welcome group and English chat sessions.
Simon Community Scotland (formerly Safe in Scotland) provides dignified accommodation and trauma-informed support for people experiencing asylum-related destitution. It is the main provider of emergency and temporary accommodation in Scotland and have been preventing homelessness in this community since 2011.
Slough Refugee Support helps asylum seekers and refugees in Slough and the Thames Valley to achieve their rights and settle with dignity in a new community. Services include advice, job search, sewing, IT and Life in the UK classes.
SOAS Detainee Support attempts to break the isolation of immigration detention, and supports people to take control of their cases and resist their imprisonment and deportation. We visit people who are being held in Harmondsworth, Colnbrook, Tinsley House, and Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centres. We also visit people who are held in London prisons under immigration powers.
Solace is a Leeds’-based charity which provides psychotherapy, complementary therapies and advocacy support to the survivors of persecution and exile living in the Yorkshire and Humberside region. It has developed wide ranging expertise on how best to improve the wellbeing and mental health of refugees and asylum seekers. Our aim is to alleviate the sickness, distress and suffering of refugees and asylum seekers, in particular those suffering from mental health problems or emotional difficulties.

Tabor House, operating from a building owned by the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham, is the city's only all year round night shelter. It takes referrals for people with no recourse to public funds as well as those on benefits. Tabor House offers shelter, safety, and support to people experiencing homelessness. As well as providing accommodation, Tabor House supports guests to move away from the streets.

The Unity Project supports people to remove the NRPF condition from their leave to remain. We run weekly casework sessions every Tuesday where we provide appointments and workshops for people with NRPF to help make ‘Change of Conditions’ applications for recourse to public funds. Women Asylum Seekers Together London is a group of women who have sought asylum in the UK. This is an open and inclusive group which welcomes all women at any stage of the asylum process to a weekly drop in, yoga, English classes and lunch. It provides opportunities for women to become engaged with campaigning with Women for Refugee Women, and other activities including dance, knitting and photography.

We help victims of torture, persecution and war to build futures in Wales through specialist advice, support and advocacy services. We provide urgent support for those in the asylum process and seek to ease the transition to life as a refugee.
We support Syrian refugees to settle in West Devon as part of the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme. We help to integrate them in the community by running a team of volunteers doing all the usual things plus a team specifically helping language development. To date there are three families here with a fourth expected shortly.

WSSAG is an advocacy and research group which works with and for refugee women and their families to enhance their ability to rebuild their lives. We campaign on women’s issues, to promote social cohesion, confidence building/ self-esteem and to enhance active citizenship. We empower and support women seeking sanctuary in Wales to voice their needs and represent themselves at strategic and policy making levels. We organise events, training and awareness raising workshops, and provide a safe and secure women only space and a source of support for each other.
World Cafe's vision is based on Matthew 25:35-36. We are committed to creating a space where people are loved and accepted as they are, especially refugees or asylum seekers. We offer English classes twice a week, Bible studies for those who are interested, and a social night twice a month, but most of all we want local people to connect and befriend new arrivals to the city.

Everyone involved is working together to make Wrexham more welcoming for people seeking safety.
We are a multi-cultural group in High Wycombe who have come together to help destitute refugee families in the UK. We find them private rental accommodation in the Wycombe area and give wrap-around support, helping with job-seeking and registration with schools, doctors, dentists and English classes. We have so far resettled 22 families with refugee status.
WYDAN, the West Yorkshire Destitute Asylum Network, is a network of organisations and individuals committed to supporting destitute asylum seekers through partnerships, networking, information sharing and awareness raising. It runs a winter night shelter for destitute asylum seekers, hosted for 1 or 2 weeks at a time by churches and other organizations.
Yarl’s Wood Befrienders visit and support women detained at Yarl’s Wood detention centre in Bedfordshire. Volunteers provide emotional and practical support for detainees, helping them cope with the challenges of detention, reducing isolation, and improving their emotional well-being.The organisation has two staff and around 50 volunteers visitors.
The New Beginnings Project works with the refugee & asylum community in Blackburn with Darwen to enable them to help each other to settle into life in the UK. The project builds skills and confidence, reduces isolation and contributes to enhanced community cohesion. It delivers workshops on topics such as English language, British culture and Extremism.
Young Roots works with young refugees and asylum seekers to realise their potential through fun and educational activities, trips and 1-to-1 casework. The activities improve their social and communication skills: reduce social isolation and promote friendships: increase their support networks and ability to problem-solve.
