Vitual Lobby of MPs to close the barracks.

This Friday (19th), Freedom from Torture, Refugee Action and others are organising a virtual mass lobby of MPs to call for the closure of the barracks and the provision of suitable asylum accommodation. If you would like to join and ask your MP to meet with you over Zoom, here are the details to do so.

How to join the virtual lobby of your MP:
  • You can use this online platform to write to your local MP and ask them to meet with you and others on the 19th March. This helps us keep track of who’s contacting who and lets us connect constituents together!

  • You can edit the text, so whether you’re getting involved as an individual, or an organisation, you can make it work for you. If you have experience of living in emergency accommodation, or your group or organisation has been supporting people in this accommodation, you can also include a couple of lines explaining the issues affecting people where you live.

  • We’ve also co-produced this quick and easy guide for people getting involved in the virtual lobby.

  • After you’ve written to your MP, please let us know if you get a reply, and we’ll invite everyone who’s meeting with their MPs to a webinar before the day of action to help everyone get prepared.
